First Aid & CPR Courses

The Emergency First Response Team offers Canadian Red Cross first aid courses throughout the year. There are a variety of organizations that offer first aid courses, but in general, to meet the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board requirements as a designated first aider in the workplace, you must have a St. John Ambulance equivalent certification, either:

1. St. John Emergency First Aid (Canadian Red Cross EFA with AED/CPR-C), or
2. St. John Standard First Aid (Canadian Red Cross SFA with AED/CPR-C)

Please contact your employer if you are unsure which course you should be taking, or whether you only need to take a CPR course without a first aid component.

  • Option 3: Contact the MSU General Accounting office at 905-525-9140 x27301 to sign up for a course (can only pay using a credit card through this option)

NEW! No confirmation emails will be sent out unless there are last minute changes to the schedule. 

You will receive a confirmation slip when you sign up which will have the location and the time on there. Please bring this sheet with you to class.

Need a new card?

*EFRT can offer replacement certification cards for courses taught by EFRT for $20. Please email efrtsfa@msu.mcmaster.ca with your full name, the date that you took the course, and if possible, your instructor’s name. You will be contacted by email when your card is ready for pick-up at the EFRT office.

To pay: bring the receipt provided by EFRT to the MSU accounting department (MUSC 201) or bring cash to the EFRT office directly.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID


At this time the MSU EFRT does not provide Wilderness First Aid courses. Courses are available through the McMaster Outdoor Club.

EXTERNAL GROUPS


MSU EFRT can accommodate for external groups provided they have a minimum of 7 people taking the full course. There is a 20 CDN$ premium ontop of the listed prices. Please contact the first aid coordinator for details: efrtsfa@msu.mcmaster.ca
