Exceptions & Limitations

The MSU Plan DOES NOT cover the following:

 

- Expenses of supplying eyeglasses or contact lenses other than as provided     

- Air travel, other than as a passenger in a commercial aircraft provided by a common carrier for passenger service     

- Expense of dental treatment, other than as provided; nor the cost of repair to artificial teeth, dentures, or dental appliances     

- Declared or undeclared war or act of war

- Suicide or self-destruction (sane or insane)

- Massage therapy

- Orthotics

- Preventative medicines, contraceptives, anti-smoking, hair loss drugs, weight loss drugs, over the counter drugs, whether prescribed or not, except those drugs prescribed in the treatment to arthritis,acne, allergies, and vaginal infections.  No payment shall be made for (a) any medicine or drugs not under control of the federal or provincial food and drug act, (b) patent control or proprietary medicines, vitamin preparations, (c) any quantity of a drug supplied in excess of 30 days on one prescription, or (d) drugs paid for by any other agency

- Vaccines are NOT covered whether prescribed or not with the exception of the Malaria vaccine

- No payment shall be made for a dental accident claim if the injury in the result of an accident caused by an object wittingly placed in the mouth
