SWHAT

SWHAT is a volunteer service of the McMaster Students Union. Operational 7 days a week during the fall and winter terms from dusk until 1 am, SWHAT will walk anyone anywhere on campus or within a 30 minute radius off campus. We will also take the bus with you if requested. Last year SWHAT had over 1300 walks! If you would like a walk just call the office at extension 27500, or drop by the office located in the Student Centre Room 204. Be on the lookout for SWHAT teams when you get off night classes, they are stationed at key locations around campus ready to walk you to your destination. It doesn’t matter whether you need directions or just want someone to talk to while walking home, SWHAT is always there to answer your call.

Each SWHAT team consists of one male and one female who are equipped with jackets, a flashlight and a radio so that they are in constant communication with a dispatcher in the SWHAT office and McMaster Security.

SWHAT is an excellent service to volunteer for. Each volunteer is required to have three 4-hour shifts a month. If you are interested in meeting great people and being involved with an excellent service sign-up at Clubsfest, the office (MUSC 204), or check out the website at www.msu.mcmaster.ca/swhat

Be sure to check out SWHAT events around campus as well—whether it’s free hot chocolate stands and twister games in the Student Centre, or our mascot SWHATTY (a giant yellow foot) walking around campus. Remember Walk Safe, Walk SWHAT.
