Phone: 905-525-9140 ext. 24017

About:

Ryan Deshpande is a student in the Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization program. He grew up in Toronto and Mississauga, where he lived prior to coming to Mac. Ryan has been involved in various ways at McMaster through Welcome Week, and holding the elected position of the Undergraduate Representative to the University Planning Committee & Budget Committee. He also sat as the student vice-chair of the President’s Advisory Committee on Building an Inclusive Community. In the MSU, Ryan has been involved with the Creating Leadership Amongst Youth conference, the SRA University Affairs committee, and the SRA External Affairs Committee. He has been most involved with MSU Diversity Services, serving as the Director last year. Ryan is a frequent visitor of Hamilton’s various bubble tea shops, and loves exploring the different food options available throughout the city. If you catch him around campus, he’ll probably be humming Beyoncé’s latest song.

This year, Ryan hopes to improve academic success by critically reviewing the University’s exam schedule policies. He also hopes to work with the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance, the City of Hamilton, and the University to improve work-integrated learning opportunities. He wants to provide a more accessible and inclusive McMaster by improving the state of food insecurity on campus through exploring more Kosher, Halal, and vegetarian food options on campus. With a newly restructured Education Department, Ryan is excited to engage more students in the MSU’s advocacy efforts and better represent students’ interests.
