SwimAbility

Our goal is to help children with disabilities develop basic swimming skills and water safety knowledge, as well as increase their comfort levels in water environments. Through one-on-one instruction and special teaching techniques, they will be given the opportunity to learn valuable aquatic skills. These children will also be given the opportunity to enrich their social skills and form new friendships. Further, this programme helps improve self-esteem and helps build the confidence required to pursue other challenges in life. We feel that this programme greatly benefits the Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Niagara, Waterloo and Mississauga communities by enriching the lives of special needs children, as well as providing an opportunity for McMaster University students to participate in a gratifying volunteer experience.
