Valedictorian Nominations

Selection Process:

Fall nominations for Valedictorian will open on August 13, 2018 and will close September 27. Valedictorian applications are an excellent opportunity for graduating (undergraduate or graduate) students to nominate a fellow graduating student who best represents the student community at McMaster University.

Valedictorians will demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership, and communication skills. In addition, and pursuant to the selection policy, applications will be evaluated on such factors as academic prowess, personal achievement, and community outreach.  The MSU provides undergraduate student representation on the valedictorian selection committees for each faculty.

The Valedictorian Nomination package can be downloaded here or picked up in person from the MSU office (MUSC 201). 

Completed valedictorian nomination packages must be submitted by 4:00 PM at the School of Graduate Studies (Gilmour Hall- 212). Late nominations will not be accepted. Interviews with prospective valedictorians will take place between October 16th and 18th Please read the nomination package carefully to ensure you have the appropriate information.

Valedictorians will deliver their speech (no longer than five minutes) to the convocation in which they graduate. Attendees will include graduating students, faculty, honoured guests, family, and friends.
