Spring nominations for Valedictorian will open on February 26, 2018 and will close March 23. Valedictorian applications are an excellent opportunity for graduating (undergraduate or graduate) students to nominate a fellow graduating student who best represents the student community at McMaster University.
Valedictorians will demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership, and communication skills. In addition, and pursuant to the selection policy, applications will be evaluated on such factors as academic prowess, personal achievement, and community outreach. The MSU provides undergraduate student representation on the valedictorian selection committees for each faculty.
The Valedictorian Nomination package can be downloaded here or picked up in person from the MSU office (MUSC 201).
*please note that the dropoff location for Humanities was updated to CNH 112*
*Medical Radiation Sciences students will be included with the Science valedictorian selection process this year*
Completed valedictorian nomination packages will be submitted to the respective faculty or program office listed on the application. Interviews with prospective valedictorians will take place between the application deadline and mid April. Please read the nomination package carefully to ensure you have the appropriate information.
Valedictorians will deliver their speech (no longer than five minutes) to the convocation in which they graduate. Attendees will include graduating students, faculty, honoured guests, family, and friends.
