Students are encouraged to donate new or gently used mittens, scarves, and hats of all sizes to the MSU’s annual Mitten Tree in support of Wesley Urban Ministries. This year, donations are also being accepted for new socks. The tree is located in the MSU Office (MUSC 201) and will be awaiting donations on weekdays from November 25 to December 12, during the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM.
The winter gear will be donated to Wesley’s annual Christmas and Holiday Store, an initiative that allows families in need to select gifts, food, and clothing items in a dignified shopping experience.
“If you have some gently used mittens, scarves, hats, or new socks, donating them to the Mitten Tree is one way to give back to the community by spreading some warmth this holiday season,” says Victoria Scott, MSU Administrative Services Coordinator. “The goal is for the donated items to help relieve the burden of purchasing these items during winter months."
