Applications are open until January 26 for the OUSA Spring General Assembly

January 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm

The Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) will host its bi-annual General Assembly (GA) at Western University from March 12 – 15, 2020. Decisions made at General Assembly are binding upon OUSA, and policies passed become representative of students across Ontario. OUSA’s non-partisan approach to provincial advocacy is student-driven and focused on creating policy recommendations that are both substantive and evidence-based.

As a member of OUSA, the MSU will be sending a delegation to the upcoming Spring General Assembly where students from across Ontario will be creating and changing official OUSA policy. Applications are now open for five student delegates. At this General Assembly, topics of discussion will include Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, Rural and Northern Students, and International Students and Education.

Applications to be an OUSA delegate are welcome from any member of the undergraduate student body taking 18 units or more. All perspectives are welcome and no previous experience with advocacy or student politics is required to apply. However, delegates will primarily be representing the interests of the McMaster Students Union (MSU). It will be the duty of the selected delegates to ensure that policy passed at General Assembly is useful and relevant to McMaster Students.

Applicants must be available from 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 12 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 15 and also be available for five-hour training session on either Sunday, February 23 or Sunday March 8. Delegate fees, including transportation and food expenses, will be covered by the MSU.

The deadline to apply is January 26, 2020. Additional details can be found on the job posting via
