Challenge Your Change at MSU Diversity Services Voluntourism Event

MSU Diversity Services is creating awareness and challenging popular opinions about volunteering abroad, known as voluntourism, in its Voluntourism: Challenging Your Change event on Thursday December 1 from 8pm-10pm in HSC 1A3. Come out for a screening of the CBC documentary Volunteers Unleashed followed by a critical discussion and free food. Visit the event page here.

Donate winter gear to the Mitten Tree in MUSC 201

The MSU’s annual Mitten Tree is up in the MSU Office (MUSC 201), and awaiting donations of new or gently used mittens, hats or scarves in support of Wesley Urban Ministries. Donate winter gear from between November 23 and December 15.

Highlighting MSU finances at MSU Open House

The McMaster Students Union is hosting the MSU Open House on Monday, November 28 from 11am-4pm in MUSC Marketplace. It is an opportunity to drop-in and engage with members of the Board of Directors and members of the Student Representative Assembly (SRA), and share your opinions on where the MSU should be investing its money or other concerns regarding MSU finances.

#myWILis campaign advocating for more work integrated learning on campus

The MSU is joining students across Ontario in participating in #myWILis, a campaign by the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) that advocates for more work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities on campus. Students are encouraged to share the kinds of WIL opportunities they are seeking, and what it means to them.

Diversity Services: MSU condemns bigoted propaganda

Today, posters regarding the “Alt-Right” and “Anti-White Propaganda” were distributed across McMaster University’s campus and in the surrounding Hamilton communities. These posters claimed that white people are deemed racist when they “positively self-identify” and “organize in [their] self interest”, among other things.

MSU condemns bigoted propaganda in MUSC

Racial and religious bigotry have no place on our campus. This morning, Monday November 21, posters were found in the Student Centre that perpetuate a viewpoint not shared by the students of McMaster University, the McMaster Students Union or the larger McMaster community. The McMaster Students Union unequivocally condemns the message of these posters and applauds McMaster University for its quick action to remove them.
