Stomp Out Stigma Week: Town Hall Oct 1st

Mental health issues are a rising concern at campuses across the county. Institutions and student unions are implementing various awareness campaigns and training programs designed to turn campuses into safe and stigma free environments.  As part of the Stomp out the Stigma Week run by the Student Wellness Centre, the MSU is hosting an informational town hall session on October 1, 2012 in MUSC 311/313 from 11:30AM - 1:30PM. All students are welcome to attend and the event will feature: 

  • A comprehensive look into the prevalence of mental health issues at McMaster.
  • The policy context at both the university and government levels, including highlights into the work being done by the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) and the McMaster Students Union (MSU).
  • Q & A Session with mental health practitioners from the Student Wellness Centre .
  • Feedback session on your personal or observational experience with mental health issues on campus to aid representatives from the MSU and OUSA in our lobbying efforts.
  • Information on how to get involved with various organizations on- and off-campus that work on health and wellness related issues.
  • Tables and information by SHEC, COPE and other student groups.
  • Free Elephant in the room buttons and t-shirts, along with food and refreshments will be provided to attendees!
