Health & Dental Insurance: Stay in or Opt-out by Sept 30

September 2, 2015 at 15:56 pm

Undergraduate students enrolled in 18 units (or more) are automatically registered for the MSU Health and Dental insurance plans. The plans are active as of September 1, 2015 until August 31, 2016. The premium for each plan is included in the supplementary fees concurrent with tuition. All plan specific details, for both the Health and Dental plan can be found online or download the handbook.

If a student can demonstrate comparable coverage, perhaps with a parent’s plan, a spouse’s or via employment, a student may opt-out of one or each of the MSU administered plans. The opt-out period runs from September 1 to September 30, 2015. There are no exceptions to this deadline. Visit the opt-out page for instructions on opting-out.

In addition to the traditional undergradute, contractual agreements also have Midwifery students, Child Life Studies students, Commerce internship students and undergraduate Medical Students covered by the MSU plans. Moreover, part-time students may now opt into the MSU plan.

There are coverage exclusions for Varsity Athletes, details are availabe here.

Graduate students are not covered by the MSU plans, but the Graduate Students Association (GSA) does provide an insurance of their own. Please visit the GSA website for more information about the GSA plan.
