The Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT) is a walk-home service run by student volunteers within the McMaster Students Union (MSU). SWHAT is available seven days per week, from 7:00pm-1:00am, in all weather, to provide safety and company for students walking or taking the bus home at night.

Over the summer, SWHAT moved into an office shared with the Student Success Centre in McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC) 226, near the Chaplaincy Centre and the Queer Students’ Community Centre (QSCC). Highly visible A-frame directional signage has been laid out on the second floor of MUSC so that the SWHAT ofice can easily be found in the evenings.

To use the service, students can call ahead or drop by the SWHAT office during evening hours.Students using the service will be joined by a team of two walkers, one male and one female. Each team carries an umbrella during rainy weather.

"The service is moving in an exciting new direction with a new office and new hours,” said Serena Arora, SWHAT Coordinator, “but what hasn't changed is the heart and dedication everyone at SWHAT puts into making McMaster a safer campus. We're still here and still ready to walk or bus you home seven days a week, rain, snow or shine."
