The Leadership Summit for Women is an annual event presented in partnership by McMaster University and the McMaster Students Union with the YWCA Hamilton. The Summit brings together women, trans* individuals, and allies from the McMaster and Hamilton communities. The 2015 Summit will be held Saturday, October 24 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre, 100 Main Street West, Hamilton.
The theme for the 2015 Leadership Summit for Women is “Make it Happen Hamilton”. The event will feature a wide variety of workshops and a keynote panel discussion. Topics include leadership values, advocacy, activism, community change, mentorship, inclusive workspaces, and women in various roles from arts and politics to medicine and trades.
"The Leadership Summit for Women is a great conference for women-identified individuals and their allies to come together in a safe space, to discuss ways in which we can empower women to get involved in governance/leadership positions,” said Ehima Osazuwa, MSU President. “When I ran for President, a big part of my platform was support for women in leadership, as well as working towards an increase in the representation of women in leadership positions within student government. I think the Leadership Summit for Women is a very important event for the McMaster / Hamilton community to help achieve these goals."
Registration is available online and has a $20 fee. The registration fee includes the conference as well as a morning snack, lunch, and refreshments. Registrants requiring special dietary accommodations should contact Rachel Nelson, Event Coordinator, Student Success Centre via firstname.lastname@example.org.
