MSU Peer Support Line is available via talk or text seven days a week

Advice, support, and a listening ear; these are some of the invaluable services that the MSU Peer Support Line provides to McMaster students. This anonymous and confidential phone line and chat service operates seven days a week during night hours – typically 7pm-1am – when many other support services are not available and support is most needed. Students have access to trained student volunteers who are available to listen without judgment, offer emotional support, and recommend on-campus and off-campus resources that may be helpful to you.

“I think the chat feature, which is still relatively new, is a great addition to the service,” says Zeinab Khawaja, Peer Support Line Coordinator. “A lot of students are more familiar and comfortable with texting and chatting online. Talking on the phone can be stressful for some, and so having the chat increases the accessibility of the line.”

The Peer Support Line encourages students not to hesitate to call. “You don't need to be in extreme distress or a crisis to access PSL,” says Khawaja. “We are here to listen to anything you'd like to discuss.”

Call in at 905-525-9140 ext. 28888, or access the chat service here.
