The MSU will hold its first ever Policy Conference on Saturday November 12 from 9am until 2pm in Celebration Hall (KTH 113), as a way for students to be more involved in the MSU’s policy work. This is an opportunity for students to provide their perspective and feedback on policies concerning the topics of Sexual and Gender Diversity, International Students, and Ancillary Fees. Delegate registration is free and is now open here.
“This year, one of my platform points was to engage more students in our policy work,” says Blake Oliver, MSU Vice President (Education). “I am so excited to hear from students about what they want to see the MSU advocate for.”
Students do not need to be experts on the topics, but simply need to be willing to participate in the conversation. Delegates will be provided with draft policies prior to the conference for an opportunity to learn more about each topic. Training will also be provided on the day of the conference to ensure that delegates have the tools necessary to critically engage in discussions with each other and with the policy authors.
There will also be an opportunity for students to learn about how the MSU advocates, how to get involved with advocacy on campus, and to hear from guest speakers. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees. Click here for more information on the event.
