MSU General Assembly March 22 in Burridge Gym
March 7, 2017 at 16:31 pm
The annual MSU General Assembly (GA) will be held on Wednesday March 22 from 4-6pm in Burridge Gym. Registration starts at 3:15pm. All MSU members are welcome to attend with their student card.
The MSU General Assembly (GA) is the constitutionally-mandated annual meeting of all full-time undergraduate students (18 or more units), wherein any student may submit a motion for discussion or debate and speak for - or against - any issue. Click here for more information.
The GA serves as an opportunity to participate in the decision making process of the MSU and have an opportunity to direct the organizations actions. Additionally, it is a place where the business of students is brought before an open and public session, where individuals can have any business addressed and even have binding motions passed on the union.
Motions must be submitted to Genya Oparin, MSU Speaker, by Wednesday March 15 via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
“Often students complain about their lack of ability to have their voices heard, or that there is too much red tape to have their ideas realized. Fortunately, the GA is meant to combat exactly those concerns,” says Oparin.
If you are interested in having your voice heard about the motions, simply register in person with your student card, speak your opinion if you so choose, and then vote using the iclicker system. A simple procedural primer will be done at the beginning of the GA to ensure that everyone understands the procedures. The agenda of the meeting will be posted at msumcmaster.ca/ga in advance of the meeting on March 22.
