Student Activity Building Survey

The Space Expansion referendum in March passed with a majority of students voting in favour of a Student Activity Building (SAB) and a Pulse and recreation expansion. The commitments for the SAB include a grocery store and multi-faith prayer space, with the remainder being unallocated space. To determine the best use of this space, the SAB Ad Hoc Committee was created to gather information and recommendations based on student feedback. Since its implementation, the committee has reported at both Student Representative Assembly (SRA) summer meetings, looked at pre-existing data and created a survey to assess current ideas of students.

Last week, a video was released by the MSU featuring the Board of Directors explaining the SAB survey. Daniel (Tuba) D’ Souza, Vice President (Finance), encourages students to have their voice heard.

“This survey is a part of a much bigger consultation campaign to ensure that a new student centred space is created directly with input from students”, said D’Souza. “I encourage everyone to take a moment and help shape the design of the new Student Activity Building”.

Undergraduate students can access the survey at msumcmaster.ca/SABsurvey, in order to express their ideas for the new building that will affect generations of future Marauders. By completing the survey, students have the option to be entered into a draw to win one of four $50 Campus Store gift cards. Following the input of focus groups that will take place in a few weeks, the SAB committee will present a report of recommendations for the space to be approved by the SRA.
