Health and Dental Insurance information and opt-out deadline

September 6, 2017 at 12:00 pm

Full-time McMaster undergraduate students taking 18 or more units automatically receive coverage through the MSU Health and Dental Insurance plans. Beginning September 1 and continuing until August 31, the plans offer benefits ranging from vision care to oral examinations. Further details of the plan can be found here.

If a student wants to opt out of the MSU plans, they can do so during the opt-out period of September 1 to September 30. For more information on opting out, click here.

New this year, the MSU Student Assistance Program (SAP) is provided to all McMaster students, and also accessible to their parents and roommates. This voluntary benefit is free and confidential, with the two main services being psychological counselling and academic-life services. Click here for more information.

Other changed aspects of the plans include the addition of acupuncture, as well as the prescription claim amount increasing to $2,500. Additionally, physiotherapy and massage are now separated under the EHC Paramedical Practitioner section. Adding dependents is the same process as before, and can be done online at www.wespeakstudent.com or in the accounting window inside the MSU Main Office, MUSC 201.

Please note, there are no exceptions to the opt-out deadline of September 30.
