November 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm
This year, the MSU is hosting a technology literacy week, TechLit, to assist students with technology-related problems. Throughout the week, there will be informative workshops, electronics recycling drop-offs, opportunities to troubleshoot problems with experts, as well as giveaways, contests, and discounts.
On Tuesday, there will be digital literacy workshops held in the LR Wilson Community Room. The workshops include Copyright on Campus, Information Security & Email Fraud, and Making Student Digital Content Accessible. In addition, there is a workshop on Thursday that introduces Git, a software that helps manage files such as software projects and text.
To encourage time away from phones, laptops, and other electronics, SWELL Unplugged is being held on Wednesday in MUSC B118. There will be craft supplies and acoustic music at this event to encourage students to find a creative outlet suited to them. Students are encouraged to bring their own guitars or other instruments.
The week ends on Friday with a event in the MUSC Atrium. Information booths to learn more about the tech support resources available on campus will be on hand, along with experts available to provide assistance with backing up digital files. Visit the Friday event for a chance to win one of two 1TB external hard drives, a Logitec MX Master gaming mouse and USB memory sticks.
Visit the MSU Facebook page to learn how to get a chace to win a 32 GB iPad.
