SCSN Student Housing Awareness Week: November 20-24

The Student Community Support Network (SCSN) is hosting the Student Housing Awareness Week from November 20 to November 24. Throughout the week, topics such as looking for a home, city by-laws, and tenant rights will be covered. The aim of the week is to inform and educate students about relevant housing information that will serve to helpprepare students for different housing situations they may encounter.


Monday, November 20: Finding a Home

There will be discussions involving the resources available for finding a home and red flags to watch out for when looking for a house to rent. In the evening, SCSN is partnering with First Year Council to host a Student Housing Session with a prevention on finding a student house and a panel to answer questions from first year students.


Tuesday, November 21: Tell Us Your Story

Housing focus groups will provide the opportunity for students to discuss their off-campus living experiences, including housing-related stories and advice for overcoming off-campus living challenges. The focus groups are happening at 3:30 in MUSC 220 and 4:30 in MUSC 230.


Wednesday, November 22: Bylaws

This day is centered around providing information and graphics regarding relevant city by-laws and how they pertain to students.

Thursday, November 23: Community Living

There is trip to the Hamilton Farmer’s Market from 11:30 AM to 2 PM. Students interested in attending should meet in the MUSC atrium, where the group will be departing from. 

Friday, November 24: Student Housing Fair

This information fair in MUSC will feature representatives and staff from various government offices and services available to talk to students about what they do and the services they provide.
