Life After Mac: January 9 to 12, 2018

From January 9 - 12, there will be a variety of events aimed at graduating McMaster students. Throughout the week, students will learn more about the transition from undergraduate studies into something new.
MSU President, Chukky Ibe looked to the ideas of other presidentail candidates in last year's election, while developing his year plan. Life After Mac was created through this process of ensure the voices of other student leaders were heard
"In addition to being an amazing transition program, Life After Mac is a commitment to the student voice, a practice of good governance, and a promise kept - the promise that no great student idea would get left behind” said Ibe.
Daniel Tuba D’Souza, Vice President (Finance), acknowledges that Life After Mac would not have happened without the dedication of multiple campus partners.
“Life After Mac will take shape our of a shared vision between the McMaster Alumni Association, the Student Success Centre, and MSU Campus Events on how we can better support students after they graduate,” said S'Souza. “It is a testament to the community at McMaster.”
President’s Levee - Tuesday, January 9 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM
All graduating students are invited to join Patrick Deane, McMaster University President and Vice-Chancellor, for a traditional New Year’s Levee inside Convocation Hall. Students can celebrate their time at McMaster alongside classmates with food, desert and champagne for the toast. Invites for this event will be sent out via email.
The Game of Life:IRL - Wednesday, January 10 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM
Students are invited to play The Game of Life:IRL in TwelvEighty, hosted by the Student Success Centre. This interactive game will immerse students in a world influenced by chance and luck, while assisting students in creating an action plan, building a budget, and planning for their life after McMaster. Alumni Launch - Thursday, January 11 from 12:00PM to 3:00PM
At this event in the Dining Room of Alumni Memorial Hall, students will learn what is involved in a successful transition out of university. There will be information about graduate school and career opportunities, as well as information about the services and benefits exclusively available to McMaster alumni. Refreshments and prizes will be available for attendees.
Guest Lecture: Hasan Minhaj - Friday, January 12 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM
MSU Campus Events and the Alumni Association are proud to announce that Hasan Minhaj will be giving a guest lecture to finish the week. Hasan is a well-known comedian, actor, writer, and a senior correspondent on the Daily Show. He will speak to students about his transition from majoring in Political Science in university, to becoming an in-demand public figure. Online tickets for students and alumni are sold out, but there are very limited amount of physical student tickets remaining at Compass Information Centre in MUSC.
