Student Health Education Centre (SHEC) now offers private nursing space

MSU Student Health Education Centre (SHEC) now offers a private nursing space, available to all those who are wishing to nurse during the regular operational hours of the service. The space has been equipped with the necessities that can help facilitate that process, including a fridge and bottle warmer.

"This space was created out of a desire to ensure a more inclusive campus that is able to meet the needs of all our students, some of whom may be caregivers and or parents,” said Sutina Chou, SHEC Coordinator. “We believe that all people should be able to nurse comfortably, and hope that our space provides an accessible option for those looking for a more private setting.”

This initiative is related to supporting parents and caregivers, a goal Chukky Ibe, MSU President, has worked towards throughout his term.

“This nursing space will transform the experiences of many students and staff on our campus,” said Ibe. “It is one step in ensuring campus is more accessible, open, and family friendly. We made a commitment to invest in supports for parents and caregivers, and this nursing room is one step out of many we are taking to do so.”

The operational hours of SHEC are:

  • Monday - Thursday: 9:30AM - 6:30PM
  • Friday: 9:30AM - 4:30PM
