Welcome Week 2018

Beginning on Saturday, August 25, will bring thousands of incoming first year students on campus for a week of activities to commence their McMaster journey. The week is filled with large faculty events and small-scale programming catering to a variety of interests. This year, MSU Campus Events is proud to announce Majid Jordan as this year’s MacPass Welcome Week concert headliner.
Saturday and Sunday will be filled with move-in activities, residence opening ceremonies, and the Welcome Week football game where the Marauders will begin their season against the Guelph Gryphons. Monday will include an official McMaster Welcome, International Student Orientation, and end with Monday Night Lights. Students can partake in a movie night or the MSU headphone disco on Tuesday before a busy Wednesday full of with Faculty Day and the ever-popular Airbands. On Thursday, a range of on and off-campus tours and activities are available to students during MacQuest. Friday, August 31, will feature Shine Day and the MacPass concert headlined by Majid Jordan with special guest Sean Leon at the JHE Main Stage. The week will finish on Saturday with Bedracers, closing ceremonies, PJ Parade and MacFest.
Known for hits including “Her” and “One I Want,” Majid Jordan have collaborated with artists including PARTYNEXTDOOR, dvsn, and Drake. Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman of the Toronto-based RNB duo met while attending the University of Toronto. Not long after they released their debut EP, After Hours, on SoundCloud, they were signed to the OVO Sound record label and co-produced Drake’s successful single, “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”
Admission to this concert is free for first years students with a MacPass wristband. There is a limited amount of $20.00 (plus HST) tickets for non-Mac Pass/upper year students. The concert is only open to McMaster University undergraduate students and all attendees must present their wristband or ticket, plus a current McMaster student ID card at the concert gates. Doors open at 7PM.
