Extended GO Bus service during Welcome Week and academic year

August 21, 2018 at 09:00 am

Students can stay late on campus during Welcome Week without fear of missing the bus home due to additional GO Transit Bus service on the Eastbound Route 47 (stops to York University). There will be three additional departures from McMaster University at 23:10, 23:40, and 00:10 on the night of Airbands (August 29), Faculty Night (August 30), and during the evening of the Welcome Week Concert (August 31).

Apart from Welcome Week, two evening eastbound trips have been added to provide more transportation options to McMaster students. The first is a weekday eastbound Route 15A departure from McMaster at 23:03 to Aldershot Station. The second added trip is the weekday eastbound Route 47, departure to York University from McMaster at 23:05.

Since the start of her term, Ikram Farah, MSU President, has worked collaboratively with Metrolinx and GO Transit to bring additional GO Bus service to McMaster.

“As a commuter student, I learned that campus life does not end with night class - many clubs, events, and activities take place well into the night. Having the final GO Bus depart before campus life finishes can make it challenging for commuters to fully participate in the diverse communities at McMaster,” said Farah.

“I hope the additional GO Transit service makes it easier for commuter students to participate academically and with extracurriculars. There’s a lot more we can do to improve the commuter student experience at McMaster, and I am looking forward to continue working with Metrolinx and GO this year to make further steps in that direction.”
