Registration for the Mentorship Program run by MSU Spark is now open. Through this program, groups of 10 first year students meet weekly with upper year students to aid with the transition into university. The sessions and activities promote individual growth and provide opportunities to make connections with McMaster students. Students are encouraged to register soon, as space for the program is limited. Registration is open until 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 9 and can be accessed by clicking here.

Spark recently released their first guidebook of the year. The guidebook focuses on Welcome Week 2018, and highlights topics ranging from explanations behind different rep suit colours to advice on promoting wellness and safety. Click here to read the Welcome Week edition and be sure to keep an eye out for additional guidebooks that will be released throughout the year.

"Whether you're facing the challenge of living away from home, adapting to new academic expectations, or just learning to find your place in a brand new community, we could all use some support from our peers to navigate these new challenges,” says Jane Luft, Spark Coordinator. “Spark provides a welcoming community that allows first year students to discover who they are and how they want to spend their time at McMaster while making meaningful connections with their peers."

Follow Spark on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in order to keep up to date with future updates and events, such as the First Year Formal happening on November 23 at the Hamilton Art Gallery hosted by Spark and First Year Council.
