September 11, 2018 at 09:00 am
Nominations for MSU First Year Council (FYC) positions are open until Monday, September 17 at 5 PM. FYC aims to advocate for and represent the distinct needs, concerns, and interests of current and future first year students at McMaster. All full-time first year undergraduate students or students who represent the interests of first year students are able to serve on the council.
Interested students can pick up their nomination package at the front desk of the MSU Office (MUSC 201) or online by clicking here. Completed nomination forms are due by 5 PM in the MSU Office on September 17. There will be a meeting for all candidates on September 17 in MDCL 1008 at 6 PM. The campaigning period will last from September 19 - September 26, and students can vote on the polling dates of September 25 - September 26 until 5 PM.
“First Year Council is a unique way to get involved as a student at McMaster - it is an excellent opportunity to meet driven individuals while working to improve the first year student experience in different ways,” says Uwais Patel, Chief Returning Officer. “Although the election process can be rigorous, the Elections Department is here to help answer any questions students may have.”
The MSU Elections Department and the coordinator of FYC are hosting Elections 1A03, an information session that aims to provide tips and advice on the process of elections and campaigning. The sessions are on September 11 from 5 - 7:30 PM in MUSC Clubspace and September 13 from 5 - 7:30 PM in Moulton Hall EMR. There will be free food available at the sessions for those attending.
