On Wednesday, September 26, Mac Farmstand will host Local Food Fest in Mills Plaza from 12 - 3 PM. Local Food Fest is an outdoors event that celebrates the role of local food in the McMaster community. The event aims to foster a connection between students and community members with the surrounding local food system, while promoting the importance of eating local.
“Mac Farmstand is very excited to be hosting our fourth annual Local Food Fest this year,” says Shailee Siddhpuria, Mac Farmstand Director. “Along with opportunities to connect with sustainability partners within our community, attendees will also learn about how small lifestyle changes can trigger a domino-like effect within the economy and environment.”
Local Food Fest 2018 will feature various sustainability partners and groups within the McMaster community, including booths set up by the Student Wellness Centre, Department of Sustainability, and the MSU Food Collective Centre. Students can expect local food samples, live music, and various other activities. The primary focus this year is promoting advocacy through the education of sustainable eating practices and other lifestyle changes.
