Spring Valedictorian nominations open until March 4

February 5, 2019 at 12:00 pm

The nomination period is now open for Spring 2019 valedictorians. Information packages are available from the front desk of the MSU office (MUSC 201), or by clicking here. Candidates will have until 4:30pm on Monday, March 4 to submit their nomination packages to their respective faculty or program offices. Successful applicants will subsequently be contacted for an interview to present a draft version of their valedictorian address to the selection committee in March.

Full-time and part-time undergraduate or graduate students, who have either an average of at least 7.0 in their last academic year or a cumulative average of at least 7.0 are eligible to become Valedictorian of their graduating class. Courses taken over the current year are not considered in the calculation of one’s average, either in the last academic year or cumulative average.

The application process requires that candidates solicit nominations from several members of the McMaster community. A primary nominator may be any graduating student who is convocating in Spring 2019. Eligible secondary nominators include graduating students registered in the same faculty as the candidate, as well as Deans, Associate Deans, or faculty members. More details on nominator eligibility are available in the nomination package.

All eligible graduating students are encouraged to apply. For any questions, please review the nomination package or contact:
