Puppies, Free Food and More Study Space During Exams

December 3, 2012 at 10:25 am

Continuing the trend of MSU stress-busting, here is the line-up of December fun to help ease the tension of the December exam perio:

SHEC

The Student Health Education Centre (SHEC) will be running stress busters all throughout the month of December. Throughout the exam period, SHEC will be bringing puppies to campus via the SPCA. The animals will be available for visiting on December 7, 12 and 17 from 1pm – 2pm in Mills Library L113. Also, SHEC volunteers will be maintaining regular peer support throughout the first full week of exams, every day from 11am-3pm. As well, SHEC will be partnering with the McMaster Chaplaincy Centre (MUSC 230) to hold evening coffee socials Sunday through Friday for the duration of the exam period. In addition, yoga classes will also be offered, hosted by Moksha Yoga Hamilton, on December 7.

SHEC has created a helpful calendar of stress busting events.

TwelvEighty

This semester, the MSU will once again be offering free food events in TwelvEighty to help ease the stress of December. On December 6th and 13th starting at 4pm each day, food will be served to the first 500 people through the doors of TwelvEighty.  Make sure you come out early, because this free food will be first come, first served.

McMaster University Student Centre

MUSC will be opening up approximately 12 meeting rooms for quiet study space after December 5. These spaces will be monitored regularly and students are required to sign in at the MUSC Admin office at MUSC-222. Additionally, several all-night study spaces will be available within the second and third floor lounges.

Bridges Café

Bridges will become a study space with extended hours until 11pm each weekday. Food will not be served outside of regular business hours, but the venue will be available as student space each weekday throughout the exam period.

Other Options

Be sure to check with your faculty about open lounges, study events and peer tutoring events that might be happening. For example, beginning December 3, Thode Library will be open 24/7. There are a lot of resources out there to help you succeed so be sure to take advantage of them all!
