Spark is an MSU service that supports first-year students throughout their transition to McMaster. One of the main aspects of Spark is the weekly mentorship program, where small groups of first-year students are connected with upper-year mentors. Students interested in securing a spot for the upcoming Winter 2019 term can pre-register via the Spark website.

Diversity Services volunteer applications are open until October 14 at 11:59pm. Diversity Services is aimed at building equity and strengthening diversity on campus through advocacy, event planning, and community building. Applications for their Community Events and Planning (CEP) Committee and the Social & Political Advocacy (SPA) Committee are available.

The McMaster Students Union has made several recommendations to McMaster University as part of its annual budget process in the form of a university budget submission. To ensure that student priorities are included in the McMaster University Budget, the MSU outlined recommendations surrounding four key areas of investment, in addition to the reallocation of funding from two areas.

The first hiring phase for motivated, passionate, and dedicated students to oversee the operations of MSU services has commenced. Within the month of October, various part-time managers (PTMs) roles are available, closing October 14.

MSU Diversity Services Volunteer Applications are now Open!

Volunteer Positions are available for both the Community Events and Planning (CEP) Committee and the Social and Political Advocacy (SPA) Committee.
The Community Events and Planning (CEP) Committee is responsible for the creation and delivery of programming and awareness events that build community and solidarity amongst the groups supported by Diversity Services. Throughout the academic year, members will work with committee coordinators to plan and execute events inclusive of, and beneficial for, students of all backgrounds and identities, with an intersectional focus on race, interfaith, and indigenous affairs. This will be done through an anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework.
The Social and Political Advocacy (SPA) Committee is responsible for creating and implementing campaigns and workshops that seek to educate and raise awareness in the McMaster community. The advocacy will be carried out in the form of large and small-scale educational campaigns. Throughout the academic year, members will work with committee coordinators to plan and execute campaigns inclusive of, and beneficial for students of all backgrounds and identities, with an intersectional focus on race, interfaith, and indigenous affairs. This will be done through an anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework.

The Food Collective Centre (FCC) is a service focused on cultivating stronger food systems within the McMaster community. The support resources offered by FCC aim to break the stigma surrounding food banks and to encourage the community to learn from and empower one another.
