These are some of our favourite places to get local food when Mac Farmstand is closed, for the week or for the season!
One of the most accessible Farmers' Markets in Hamilton. It is located year round in Jackson's Square and is open on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Come here for a wide variety of local and in season Ontario produce, a great selection of meats, cheeses, fish and specialty items. One of my favourite stands is the De La Terre bakery -- incredible baked treats. There's also a great fresh pasta stand where you can often watch the owner make the pasta being sold there that day.
Located in Dundas, this is a bit of a small market, but has a wide variety of local seasonal produce. Often QuatreFoil stops in to provide free samples from their restaurant. This is the market I visit the most often as it is not too far from campus and has great quality products.
A bit of a bus ride but worth the trip. This farmers market is a great communal gathering. The produce offered is incredible and all of it great quality. Some highlights are the flavored lemonades, baked bread offered by Bread Bar, and the amazing summer berries offered.
