SHEC Week 2019: Whole Body Health

Exercise Live will be live from 5:45pm on March 6. View the stream here or at the video below:

From March 4 to 8, 2019, the MSU Student Health Education Centre is proud to present SHEC Week 2019: Whole Body Health. We have a whole week of exciting programming planned for students, kicking off with a workshop on how to deploy Naloxone. ‘Health’ is different for everyone—let’s explore it from different angles this week!

Here is a comprehensive list of the events going on this week:

Know the ropes, reverse an overdose
March 4th, 2:30pm - 4:30pm in MUSC 311/313

Learn from a Public Health Nurse how to deploy Naloxone safely, without ever leaving campus! SHEC volunteers will be around throughout the whole event to talk about our Harm Reduction campaigns and provide confidential peer support. Food and a limited supply of free Naloxone kits will also be available.

To participate, please sign up via this Eventbrite link.

Puppy Room
March 4th, 7:00pm - 8:00pm in Connections Centre (Mills 1st Floor)
In collaboration with Maccess

We know a room full of dogs won't fix all our problems... But it can't hurt either! Come to our Puppy Room event to hang out with some scruffy friends and talk about ways we as an institution can advocate for closing the gap between those that want to access mental health services and the availability of those services.

Good Eats
March 5th, 12:00pm - 1:00pm in MUSC 311/313
In collaboration with the Food Collective Centre

Missed out on eating breakfast? Forgot your lunch at home? SHEC will be providing a granola and yogurt bar on the morning of March 5th, as well as letting students sign out some of our many cookbooks. Bring your own bowl for a chance to win a special prize or to take your granola home! If granola doesn’t catch your interest, there are prizes to be won as well! SHEC and the Food Collective Centre will be sharing the secrets of buying food for $5 or less on campus on our social media throughout the day, plus keep an eye out for details on how to win a $15 Tim Horton's gift card!

Exercise Live
March 6th, 5:45pm - 6:15pm on Facebook Live
In collaboration with The Pulse

Too cold outside to make that trek to the gym? Want to get on that #gymlife but just find the Pulse a bit too overwhelming? Join us on March 6th at 5:45pm for a livestreamed full-body workout for all levels and abilities that you can do without stepping out of your bedroom, run by your own personal trainer from the Pulse. Take a study break and get ready to sweat for a chance to win a one-month pass to De La Sol Yoga Studio. Contest entry details to follow closer to the event; you can stay tuned to this webpage or our Facebook page for when the livestream URL is live.

(All) The Feels
March 7th, 5:30pm - 7:00pm in MUSC 230
In collaboration with the Pride Community Centre

Join SHEC & PCC for a screening of The Feels (2017). Take a break from the books to watch Andi and Lu celebrate their combined bachelorette party and learn a thing or two about the complexities of orgasms. Popcorn, blankets, and drinks will all be provided – plus be entered into a raffle to win our special prize.

One SHECxy Q&A
March 8th, 10:30am -11:30am on Facebook Live
In collaboration with the Pride Community Centre

What do you do when the internet can’t give you a reliable, quick answer to your sex-related questions? Some of SHEC and PCC’s very own volunteers will be answering your questions, submitted anonymously, over Facebook Live! Even if you don’t have specific questions, tune in to learn more about sexual wellness from the comfort of your home and to have a SHECxy good time! Stay tuned to this webpage or our Facebook page for when the livestream is live.

If you require accommodation to attend any one of SHEC Week's events, or have any comments about the general accessibility of any event, you are encouraged to contact the SHEC Coordinator at shec@msu.mcmaster.ca or anonymously via this form.
